The Battle rages on with stop #2 officially in the books from sunny South Bend, Indiana at the world famous Kitchen BMX & Skatepark. The sun was shining outside as we hit a record high near 70 degrees smack dab in the middle of February. The Kitchen, with its new park layout is a perfect place to hold a competition and the Banasiewicz family, along with all the fine volunteers that help keep everything together behind the counter are the glue that bonds places like this. Brett was in good spirits through-out the day and we even managed to get him to put a run in with the judges in the “Old Fools” class.
The day sprung into action with nearly ten youngsters in the Beginner Class. The Intermediate Class had 17 riders signed up and they were all ready to come out swinging to take home the trophy and some points. My personal contest highlight was seeing Hannah Roberts throw down a No-Handed Backflip to cap off her victory in the Expert class, showing off in her hometown skatepark while remaining the #1 female rider on the planet! The Open Class crew was full of massive tricks and smooth flowey style as Chase Pauza went on to take 1st place by just 2pts, Chase is dominating the open class with 2 victories in just as many contests. The Old Fools Class was also taken over by Bill Nitschke, who also won at the Fort Wayne Stop.
