The Fort Wayne Indoor – BMX & Skateboard Park

F.I.T Video Premier

The opening of the only indoor skatepark is a few short weeks away.  We pushed through the obstacles of Indiana summers and managed to raise enough money to keep the dream alive for another year!  The park will be undergoing some big changes, all geared towards making the place a much stronger place for bikers, skaters, and the community to gather and meet up with friends, new and old.  Check out to keep up to date with all the fun stuff going on over the cold winter months.  September 10th 2014 is the date, I hope to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones out there!  Cheers to all

The 4th stop on this years Monster Army Recon Tour was held in South Bend, Indiana at the one and only Brett Banasiewicz’s skatepark. The mood was right and the weather cooperated by not turning The Kitchen into an oven as it would be on most Augusts weekends in the mid-west. The day began with a short drive up with Joey Marks (aka Whitesnake), Joey was asked to help judge this contest along with Kris Fox, and Ohio Dreams winner Trent Newkirk.

The Fort Wayne Indoor

The need for an indoor skatepark in Fort Wayne, Indiana is real, very real. The lack of outdoor activities in the winter makes the area skateboarders and BMX’ers very restless. 3 Years ago with the help of a local non-for-profit organization called “The Framework”, this vision became reality. An indoor facility known as “The New Republic Skatepark” opened its doors to the public in the fall of 2012.

This ramp roots are deeper than your very own family tree.  This ramp has been a  part of our scene since the year 1988. The ramp started out its life as a 16′ wide X 6′ high mini on the North side of the city in Shane Buell’s backyard (Concordia Gardens).  In about 1995 it moved to the South-West side of town in Tym De Santos backyard. The Sweeney Skatepark was out of business just a few years earlier,  and the metal from the Sweeny park was purchased & installed as the top layer.

Kick Ass!

BMX Always Kicks Ass!

BMX Bikes

I had been thinking about what I was going to write for the 1st post of the newly revised  It all comes down to the BMX, I mean the title of this post sums it up.  Every single time I get on my bicycle, where ever I may be and what ever I may be riding that day is always a new beginning.  A fresh start, a new perspective on life, and a new experience every single time.  BMX teaches us life lessons on so many levels its unbelievable.  I have been able to spend most of my life enjoying my passion, I want others to have the same opportunity to go where BMX has taken me, my friends, and my family.
